How to get the gift you really want

Don't be too shy to let them know about the gift you really want!  If your birthday, Christmas, Father's Day or other gift giving occasion is approaching,  don't be too embarrassed to ask for a specific gift when they wonder what it is you are really hoping for this year.

Think back to all the times that you have been trying to pick out the perfect present for someone.  Wouldn't it be great to have a list of gifts that you know the person would love to have?   That way,  you would know exactly what the person would be hoping for.   So do try to think of it from the giver's point of view.

Why not start a family tradition and  get the members of your family to all make out a 'wish list' ranging from the extravagant 'dream' gifts to the everyday, economical but still needed, gifts. Then be sure to fill one out yourself and keep it updated.

If you are still too shy to come right out and tell friends what you would love to have,  then at least try to drop a few hints and if they come right and ask what you are hoping for this year,  don't play coy!  Tell them exactly what you were hoping for,  remembering of course that it isn't appropriate to ask for something expensive!   Be sure to give a few choices so that they can still give you something with the element of surprise involved.

Be a good gift giver yourself too.  Try to observe friends and family and see what they might have that is broken or worn out.  Take note of their favorite foods and hobbies so that you can delight them with a gift that is just perfect for them.  When you are a thoughtful gift giver,  then chances are they will make an effort to be as thoughtful as you,  when it comes time to get you a gift!
